(i) The United Nations General Assembly concludes debate on the question of Namibia with most speakers: • calling for the immediate implementation of Security Council resolution 435 (1978) ; • reiterating their rejection of South African attempts at linking the independence of Namibia with the withdrawal of Cuban forces from Angola; and • calling for the imposition of comprehensive and mandatory sanctions against South Africa under the United Nations Charter to compel her to relinquish her illegal occupation of Namibia. (ii) Leaders of Frontline States, the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO) and the African National Congress (ANC) reiterate their rejection of linking the independence of Namibia to the withdrawal of Cuban forces from Angola, 49/84
